Professional Bio Description

Professional Bio

My name is Angelina Aguilera, I’m a third year student in the Early Childhood Studies Program at the University of Guelph-Humber. My most recent field placement took place in a kindergarten classroom where I worked alongside an RECE and an OCT. Prior to this I’ve done three placements in a daycare centre with both toddler, and preschool age children as well as a kindergarten classroom. These professional experiences have provided me with valuable opportunities to engage in the day to day environment while observing and learning from the RECE’s.

Before these more formal professional roles, I gained foundational experience through volunteer work at summer camps and babysitting. While these positions were less formal, they played a meaningful role in shaping my skills and passion for working with children. One quote I love is “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” by Phil Collins. I believe that as an educator, learning is a lifelong journey. I am always learning and growing and as I work with children I will also be learning with them, and this is one of the aspects I love most about being an educator

I greatly value each child’s voice, including their reactions, responses, expressed interests and needs as meaningful feedback that guides my practice. I use the knowledge I gain from children I work with to guide my planning as I implement meaningful experiences that reflect their individual strengths and curiosities. I am committed to ongoing growth as an educator as I follow a reflective practice where I learn from my experiences and consider what is working well and where I can improve according to the best interests of the children I work with. I strive to create supportive and responsive environments that prioritize the well-being of children and connections with families while fostering collaborative relationships with colleagues and other professionals I work with.
